![]() Jeff Bennett voices Lumiere from Beauty and the Beast (1991), who has a stand at Fan Con next to Dale’s, and features throughout the film, This is not the first time Bennett has voiced the role, having prior voiced Lumiere in a few of the Kingdom Hearts video games, Tigra, from The Avengers: United They Stand (1999) set within the Marvel Animated Universe shows up, another guest at Fan Con.Īlso situated near Dale and Lumiere is, “The One and Only!” Ugly Sonic, the first design iteration from 2020’s Sonic the Hedgehog, somehow has a prominent role during the events of the film. The actual animated Sailor Moon can be seen at the front of the crowds, as they await Baloo from The Jungle Book (2016) to make a public appearance. We see a glimpse of a fan wearing Sonic The Hedgehog‘s iconic hair, two mice also are seen dressed as Princess Leia (from Star Wars: A New Hope) and Kylo Ren ( Star Wars: The Force Awakens). Here’s who I was able to spot!Īmongst the first sets of crowds, we see fans dressing up as the likes of Mario, Lilo (from Lilo & Stitch), Fat Thor (from Avengers: Endgame), Ash Ketchum (from Pokémon the Series), and Jack Sparrow from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, and Dorothy (from The Wizard of Oz). Both guests of the convention, and the general cosplay all feature references to be spotted. There are lots to spot during both sections of the film which take place at the nostalgia convention circuit, FanCon. A nice reference, however, to “ Double ‘O Chipmunk” – the forty-fifth episode of Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers where Chip and Dale become involved in a real spy adventure emulating their heroes Dirk Suave (Double ‘O Super-Spy) and Oddshoe, Fan Con – Round 1 The scene soon evolves into some form of a Rescue Rangers party, and this is where more familiar faces show up… The Three Little Pigs and Roger Rabbit are seen dancing with Chip ‘n Dale, whilst Paula Abdul and MC Skat Kat are on DJ duties – the two of course appeared in Abdul’s video for her song “Opposites Attract” in 1989.Ĭhip decides to leave Rescue Ranger in hopes of pursuing a James Bond-esque pilot, however, the show doesn’t get picked up and is instead cancelled. Rescue Rangers director Akiva Schaffer shows up in a cameo role as the director of the episode “Fat Cat Attack”. This is a great touch, as the episode is heavily referenced in the final act… The episode itself doesn’t actually exist, but features prominent Rescue Rangers villain Fat Cat, as he is stopped by the Rescue Rangers by becoming distracted with Chip’s imaginary birds after his head is hit. Obviously, we get to see the Rescue Rangers in their full glory, including a glimpse of a fictional episode of Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers titled “Fat Cat Attack”. Dare Rides Again” where Pete Bianco (Scott Baio) and Uncle Jesse (John Stamos) are singing (You Make Me Wanna) Shout! The Rescue Rangers Age ![]() The following sequences also see Chip ‘n Dale make an appearance in an episode of Full House, he footage is in fact taken from Season 3, Episode 9 titled “Dr. The school days don’t contain too many more easter eggs, however, an animated Autobot from Transformerscan be seen in the crowd of a talent show. The same scene features a scene where Chip n Dale are watching Abbott and Costello, where one of the two (Lou Costello) has been replaced by an animated character, who looks a lot like Horace Horsecollar – one of Mickey Mouse’s best pals. The lunchbox is obviously culturally relevant, given the flashbacks are in fact set during 1982 – nice touch!Ī really interesting blink and you’ll miss it reference, there is a Mickey Mouse alarm clock in one of the chipmunks’ houses. Hasselhoff starred as Michael Knight, a sleek and modern crime fighter assisted by KITT, an advanced, artificially intelligent, self-aware, and nearly indestructible car. Knight Rider, if you weren’t aware was an action crime drama television series, starring David Hasselhoff from 1982 to 1986. When Chip first meets Dale, he is seen to own a Knight Rider lunchbox. The first is in the form of a car, which is very reminiscent of Benny the Cab from Who Framed Roger Rabbit? Whilst, not the exact same car, the more blue coloured car shares the same look as he drops his children, two bumper cars off at the elementary school. when we first meet our protagonists at Unionville Elementary School we’re introduced to a small number of references. It perfectly sets up the film and prepares the audience for what’s in store… The Early Days We see The Sultan’s Palace from Aladdin, Elsa’s Castle from Frozen, Prince Eric’s Castle from The Little Mermaid, and what I assume to be the castle featured in the opening for 2018’s Incredibles 2. ![]() Similar to the events of the film, the castle gets an identity switch and takes characteristics from existing Disney icons. As any Disney film does, the film starts with the iconic castle opening, however, for Rescue Rangers – the opening has a twist to it. ![]()
